Vessel Safety Check

Hoodsport’N Dive conducts VESSEL SAFETY CHECKS for individuals, companies, and Tribal Nations. We have developed a point system to help a captain or safety officer determine areas where the vessel may need some corrections, or give confirmation of the vessel passing with flying colors. We walk the vessel with the crew asking about basic safety procedures and equipment. We also personally inspect basic equipment: helmets, cylinders, compressors, nitrox system, and coast guard required items. At the end of the inspection, we submit a written report that can be used as a suggestion for areas of improvement or provide pride in knowing your vessel meets all its basic safety requirements.

Pricing: $150.00

Can be combined with other services for savings.

Air Test

Many dive regulations require regular testing of the diver’s air supply. Testing should be conducted for Carbon Monoxide / Carbon Dioxide and Oil particulates The most effective way to test the quality of the air is coming from the air compressor’s manifold. Hoodsport’N Dive uses a portable air testing system that is brought to the vessel and connected to the manifold. We issue immediate results after the test is completed. If the test is not satisfactory we can provide potential solutions to solve the air quality issues and keep the divers safe. At the completion of successful air analysis, we can provide documentation to post in your vessel or submit to a regulatory agency.

Air test  $200 *

*The price can be negotiated based upon the location of the vessel for the air test and the number of vessels being tested while we are in the area.

We prioritize a holistic approach, ensuring every aspect of your operations is optimized for peak performance. With a focus on strategy and adaptability we transform visions into tangible results.

Umbilical

The diver relies on the umbilical to supply the breathing gas. Failure or contamination of the umbilical will put the commercial harvester at risk. Hoodsport’N Dive offers two services to test or clean the diver’s umbilical line. We can conduct the services separately or at a combined price.

Umbilical Pressure Test

The umbilical pressure test is required to ensure the proper functioning of the umbilical fittings and the integrity of the hose liner. The Umbilical is pressurized to 500 psi and held for 30 minutes. During this time the hose is sprayed to check for bubbles and examined for signs of wear and tear that require attention.

COST: $150 – Price may be increased based on the location of the testing and the number of tests being performed

Umbilical Cleaning

Occasionally the umbilical can get fouled with smells and contaminates. Hoodsport’N Dive offers a service to flush an odor-neutralizing and disinfectant solution through the umbilical line. The cleaning process takes 15 minutes and we flush for an additional 15 minutes to ensure all contaminants have been removed.

Cost $150 – Price may be increased based on location of the testing and the number of tests being performed

Combined Pressure and Cleaning Price

Cost $275 for both services – price may be increased based on the location of the testing and the number of tests being performed

Nitrox System

NITROX replaces some of the nitrogen a diver absorbs with extra oxygen. As long as the depths are conducive with the amount of extra Nitrogen, NITROX is a very beneficial gas for harvest divers. NITROX can either reduce some risks of nitrogen absorption or extend the amount of bottom time for a commercial harvester. Some extra time in the water can equate to a greater rate of return on the product. It saves multiple trips to the same area.

Providing NITROX to the diver using surface supplied equipment can be expensive. There are numerous systems on the market: partial pressure blends, large storage bottles, de-Nitrogenated air to produce an unlimited supply of NITROX, at a high initial cost. Our method of choice is to provide continuous flow through the compressor using an oxygen bottle with the regulator.

Hoodsport’N Dive has developed a relatively inexpensive continuous flow blending system for your current compressor. We install a custom made blending stick at the compressor inlet. Oxygen flows to the blending stick through a single OR dual-stage oxygen regulator, controlled by the tender.

An analyzer, at the blending stick, confirms the amount of oxygen going into the blending stick. As the Enriched air goes through the system, it will eventually enter the umbilical line. We install a second analyzer prior to entering the umbilical so the tender can inform the diver of the NITROX blend they will be breathing. The diver informs the tender of their working depth. Those two pieces of information help ensure a safe NITROX dive.

The Hoodsport’N Dive system incorporates dual oxygen analyzers, blending sticks, and safety valves to ensure pure oxygen does not flow into the compressor.

We can sell the components to the operator or make arrangements for Installation by Hoodsport’N Dive staff. The cost of the system is dependent upon the location of installation. The staff will set up the system on the boat, with the boat owner’s assistance and recommendations. The Hoodsport Staff will then train the owner on the proper operation of the blending system.
